Who's not playing? Me that's who!

For those living under a rock or that just don't care about MMO's, Star Trek Online began its open beta play. Or what I like to call the 'come try our game free for two weeks before we screw it up!' time. Let's just hope that won't be the case this time around like it was for Cryptic's last game Champions Online.

Maybe I'm just being too harsh, or maybe it's because in a 24hr time span I have only downloaded around 1gb of the beta client. To be fair it would seem that everyone and their mother is trying to download this beta as well. But the performance of the fileplanet downloader has been down right atrocious.

I honestly don't know what time the client began to download, but I do know that the downloader said I had a 38 min wait till my download started, which is the same amount of time it said nearly five hours earlier.

It's frustrating but should have been expected really, seems like there are more than a few out there interested in this one.

Not my fault! I have no interest in Star Trek and thus no interest in Star Trek Online, so I'm not hogging the download bandwidth!

Lol, excellent, I just moved up one more spot on the wait list!

At least you're trying, right? Think of it like Christmas. Sometimes the anticipation is better than the event. :)

I have the full AoC game coming in the mail, I'm still foaming to play CO past level 15, and I have a LoTRO alt that is just starting to get interesting. As much as it pains me to be out of step with the rest of the MMO blogosphere, I think this is a launch I'm sitting out.

Who knows though, I have a free pre-order I can use for anything at Gamestop. My resolve might weaken in the next week or so.

@Yeebo
AoC eh? I might have to fire that one back up! I love the combat and the graphics in Conan, so awesome.

@Jaydub: the GFX are indeed hella awesome. I would go out on a limb and claim they are close to the best among modern MMOs.

I am splitting my time between LoTRO and AoC, and playing odd hours to boot. I have toons on Bloodspire and Set, and none yet so far along that I'm committed to a server (my highest is only 20).

I'm fairly certain that I was playing on the Set server as well, hmmm...
